INGENIERÍA DE SISTEMAS Y COMPUTACIÓN

INFORMACIÓN GENERAL

El propósito de la Ingeniería de Sistemas y Computación es educar capital humano de clase mundial con capacidad de identificar, formular y resolver problemas complejos de tecnología, ingeniería y computación aplicando principios de ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería, matemáticas y computación; y con capacidad para aplicar la ingeniería de sistemas y computación, los principios de la ciencias de la computación y el diseño de tecnología para producir soluciones, sistemas, componentes o procesos que satisfagan necesidades y requisitos específicos, teniendo en cuenta los derechos humanos, el bienestar, la salud pública y la seguridad de las personas.

El programa Ingeniería de Sistemas y Computación de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia cuenta con un plan de estudios en créditos, actualizado, flexible, que promueve la formación integral y la autonomía, el claro sentido de pertenencia y excelentes resultados en diferentes ámbitos, de estudiantes y egresados, además  la dedicación en las labores de docencia, investigación y extensión de los profesores del programa, constituyen evidencias de la calidad del programa de Ingeniería de sistemas y Computación así como de la solidez institucional de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

El programa tiene un énfasis profesional en las áreas de métodos y tecnologías de software, infraestructura computacional, de comunicaciones y de información, computación aplicada, sistemas inteligentes, modelos, sistemas, optimización y simulación, y contexto profesional e interdisciplinario las cuales se soportan en una formación fundamental matemáticas, probabilidad y estadística, física, ciencias de la computación, y ciencias económicas y administrativas. Para esto, se cuenta con una planta docente sólida por formación y dedicación con un alto sentido de pertenencia que enfoca su esfuerzo permanente en el logro de los resultados de aprendizaje en la educación de los estudiantes del programa.

PERFIL

Perfil del Aspirante

El Programa está dirigido a personas que además de contar con el título de bachiller según lo dispuesto en la Ley 30 de 1992 tengan interés en Ciencias Naturales, Matemáticas, Ciencias de la Computación, Ingeniería de Software, Tecnologías de la Información y Sistemas de Información.

Además, los aspirantes deben contar con una alta disciplina de trabajo, ser autónomos y creativos y tener disposición para trabajar en grupos multidisciplinarios.

Perfil del Egresado

En términos de aprendizajes esperados, el perfil de egresado del Programa busca que los estudiantes al culminar su formación tengan (Acuerdo 026 de 2014 del Consejo de Facultad de Ingeniería):

  • Capacidad para aplicar el conocimiento y la comprensión de la ingeniería de sistemas y computación, las ciencias de la computación, las matemáticas y las ciencias naturales.
  • Capacidad para analizar un problema e identificar y definir los requerimientos computacionales apropiados para su solución.
  • Capacidad para diseñar, implementar y evaluar sistemas, componentes, procesos o programas computacionales de acuerdo a las necesidades/requerimientos establecidos.
  • Capacidad para trabajar de manera efectiva en equipos multidisciplinarios y multiculturales, en contextos nacionales e internacionales, para lograr una meta común.
  • Comprensión de los aspectos y las responsabilidades profesionales, éticas, sociales, históricas, ambientales, económicas y jurídicas, y la apropiación de éstas como orientadoras de su quehacer.
  • Capacidad para comunicarse de manera eficaz, eficiente y efectiva con una variedad de audiencias en español, en inglés, en una tercera lengua estratégica y en lenguajes formales, gráficos y simbólicos.
  • Capacidad para analizar el impacto local y global de la computación sobre los individuos, las organizaciones y la sociedad.
  • Capacidad y reconocimiento de la necesidad del aprendizaje a lo largo de la vida para mantenerse actualizado de manera continua tanto en su profesión, como en otras áreas que le permitan comprender a nivel local y global el contexto histórico, político, social, económico y ambiental de su quehacer.
  • Capacidad para utilizar las técnicas, habilidades y herramientas actualizadas y adecuadas en cada momento, para la práctica de la profesión.

OBJETIVOS

Según el Acuerdo 97 de 2014 del Consejo Académico, los objetivos del Programa se orientan a formar Ingenieros de Sistemas y Computación líderes académicos y profesionales para:

  • Planificar, analizar, diseñar, implantar, administrar y evaluar sistemas computacionales y servicios basados en estos.
  • Analizar, diseñar, implantar y administrar sistemas complejos de información y de conocimiento.
  • Desarrollar modelos matemáticos especialmente relacionados con el área de investigación de operaciones y aplicarlos en la solución de problemas prácticos.
  • Participar en actividades de asesoría, interventoría, consultoría, auditoría, relacionadas con sistemas informáticos.
  • Participar en actividades de evaluación, negociación, selección y transferencia tecnológica a nivel de equipos, soporte lógico y recursos en general.

Los objetivos del programa y la visión de la universidad se encuentran relacionados, el aspecto más vinculante se destaca cuando se hace mención a la “generación del conocimiento” en la visión, toda vez que la visión contempla la “solución de problemas fundamentales de la sociedad colombiana” así como los objetivos del programa consideran las “soluciones a los problemas de la sociedad y de nuestro medio” sobre la base de la formación en las áreas de conocimiento de las ciencias y la ingeniería de sistemas y ciencias de la computación demostrando la coherencia entre la visión y los objetivos del programa.

COMPUTER SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

GENERAL INFORMATION

The purpose of Computer Systems Engineering is to model and implement complex systems. Also Systems Engineering integrates other disciplines including applying of mathematical sciences and computer sciences for the development of Systems. The most relevant aspects involved in computer science are: information and communication theories, the theory of computational complexity, the theory of programming languages, computer programming and systems theories.

The Computer System Engineering program of the National University of Colombia has a current and flexible credit curriculum that promotes comprehensive training and autonomy, as well as a clear sense of belonging and excellent results in different fields of students and graduates. In addition to the dedication of the program’s professors in teaching; researching and extension processes are evidence of the quality of the Systems Engineering program and the institutional solidity of the National University of Colombia.

The program has a professional emphasis in the areas of computer systems, information systems and organizations, systems infrastructure, software methods and technologies, hardware and computer architecture, operations research and application technologies, which are supported by fundamental training in mathematics, probability and statistics, natural sciences, economic and management sciences. For this we have a solid teaching staff for training and with great dedication that involves a high sense of belonging that focuses its permanent effort on the achievement of the objectives proposed in the training of the students of the program.

Candidate Profile

The Programme is aimed at persons who besides of having a bachelor’s degree under Law 30 of 1992, have an interest in natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, software engineering, information technology and information systems.

In addition, applicants must have a high working discipline, be autonomous and creative, and be willing to work in multidisciplinary groups.

Graduate Profile

In terms of expected learning outcomes and in accordance to Agreement 026 of 2014 of the Faculty of Engineering Council, the Graduate Profile of the Program seeks students to complete their training in the nest skills:

  • Ability to apply knowledge and understanding the computer systems engineering, computer science, mathematics and natural sciences.
  • Ability to analyze a problem and identify and define the appropriate computational requirements for its solution.
  • Ability to design, implement and evaluate computer systems, components, processes or programs according to established needs/requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, in national and international contexts to achieve a common goal.
  • Understanding the professional, ethical, social, historical, environmental, economic and legal aspects and responsibilities and the appropriation of these ones as guidelines for their work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to a variety of audiences in different languages like spanish, english, as well including a third strategic language and formal, graphic and symbolic languages.
  • Ability to analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations and society.
  • Ability and recognition of the need for Lifelong Learning to be continuously updated both in your profession and in other areas to enable you to understand the historical context locally and globally, political, social, economic and environmental aspects of its work.
  • Ability to use the techniques, skills and tools that are updated and suitable at any time for the practice of the profession.

OBJECTIVES

According to the Academic Council Agreement 97 of 2014, the objectives of the Program are to train leading Computer and Systems Engineers academically and professionally to:

  • Plan, analyze, design, implement, manage and evaluate computer systems and services based on these.
  • Analyze, design, implement and manage complex information and knowledge systems.
  • Develop mathematical models especially related to the research area of operations and apply them in the solution of practical problems.
  • Participate in consulting and auditing activities related to computer systems.
  • Participate in assessment, negotiation, selection and technology transfer activities at the level of equipment, software and resources in general.

The objectives of the program and the vision of the university are related one another. The most binding aspect is highlighted when the "generation of knowledge" is mentioned in the vision, since the vision contemplates the "solution of fundamental problems of Colombian society" as well as the objectives of the program consider the "solutions to the problems of the society and our environment" on the basis of training in the areas of science knowledge and systems engineering and computer science demonstrating consistency between the vision and objectives of the programme.
